Donor-Advised Funds

What is a Donor-Advised Fund

A donor-advised fund is when you establish an irrevocable account with the Foundation to distribute the income to a Christian cause(s) that you suggest.  You receive an immediate tax deduction for the amount(s) you place into the fund.  The account can grow tax-free.  There's the flexibility for you to suggest the recipient(s) of the income on your own timetable.  Also, there is no capital gain taxes on gifts of appreciated securities placed into your fund.  In essence, you have your own charitable giving account.

Your way on your timetable

A donor-advised fund gives you the opportunity to suggest to us to distribute the income where you want, when you want.

You also have the option of earmarking your gift for causes you care about requesting that we identify United Methodist ministries that best meet your goals.  You can even ask us to a call your attention to projects we think address your interests.

However you structure it, we make final decisions on your advised allocations, ensuring that your gift is administered appropriately and as you requested.

Remain Anonymous

Some donors wish to remain anonymous.  A donor-advised fund allows you control how and when we publicize gifts from your fund.  You can even give your fund any name you like.
