United Methodist Foundation Representative
Purpose: A local church representative
connected to the United Methodist Foundation who will provide a link between the
local church and the ministry of the Foundation.
Appointment: The representative is
nominated by the local church Committee on Lay Leadership and is approved the
local Charge Conference.
Gifts and Skills: It is hoped that a
Foundation Representative will have a heart for the connectional church and for
local church ministry.
Responsibilities:

Education
-
Attend, as able, any local or
district/regional Foundation training events to learn more about the
Foundation for the purpose and its ministry of communicating that
knowledge to the local church.

Review material provided by the Foundation

Become familiar with the United Methodist
Disciplinary statements regarding United Methodist Foundations and
Socially Responsible Investing.

Communication
-
Provide mailing and emailing (if applicable)
addresses to the Foundation to enable communication.

Explore ways in which the ministry of the
Foundation can be promoted at the local church.

Report to the local Administrative Council
(or equivalent) regarding Foundation activities and opportunities for
education and ministry.

Request brochures, DVDs, or other
communication material from the Foundation as needed in the local
church.

Facilitate the observance of Foundation
Sunday at the local church level.

Contact the Foundation to request
presentations at the local church level regarding the ministry of the
Foundation or planned giving (estate planning).

Communicate opportunities and encourage
local church members to attend district or regional Foundation
presentations.
